One: I am absolutely furious with telemarketers. Of course, I have always been angry with them. However, since I have been near the phone more often lately, my anger has graduated to the gnarling of the teeth class. That's a dangerous level. However, when we started getting calls from people who said we called them.........and we didn't.......my brow began to sweat. Then, we received four telemarketing phone calls from ourselves. The telemarketers had selected our phone number to con other people in the area that it was a local call. That did it!!! I am writing to all our elected officials at the state and federal level and complaining.......rather graphically. These politicians only respond to votes. If there aren't voter complaints, the politicians ignore any issue.......probably even murder.
The "no call list" is a political effort to shut up voters. Of course, it doesn't work. It is not enforced. Passing laws that telemarketers out of the country do no have to worry about is hardly a "fix." Laws SHOULD BE PASSED penalizing telephone companies that do not offer the technology to STOP the calls. They have the technology. They are just waiting for the demand to be so great they can charge a huge fee from customers to get relief. Can you help me? Can you start writing letters to the elected officials?
Two: I try to keep politics out of this blog. The purpose of the blog is to get you to think, not me telling you what to think. I've been fairly successful at this.
However, watching this unbelievable drama unfold regarding the Supreme Court nominee is just sickening. To borrow a word from Hillary Clinton, I have never witnessed such "deplorable" behavior as I have the far left wing of the Democrat Party on this nomination. The last survey I heard about said that 40% of the public feels the nominee is guilty of sexual abuse. Yet, not one fact has been presented.
All my adult life, I have dealt with data, facts, and conclusive evidence. I need such evidence to be an effective real estate analyst. If I don't observe and deduct reasonably, I make mistakes. In the world of politics, apparently that doesn't make any difference.
The nominee has sworn, under oath, to a Congressional committee that he is innocent of such allegations. If he is proven to be a liar, it is a criminal offense with a possible jail sentence. Folks, does that make sense? Judge Kavenaugh has led a stellar life. Does it make sense to put that reputation on the line and risk the destruction of his family and serve a jail term? Please be assured, in these times it is much easier to completely avoid the question. Sleaze is the order of the day.
Even tho I'm a conservative, I always felt members of Congress and the Senate were deserving of my respect, regardless of their political party. I don't always agree with their views, but they are entitled to be heard and deserve consideration. Then, after consideration, I cast my vote. I always thought that was the American Way. In times past, it was. Even tho I may disagree, the members of Congress and the Senate had honor.
I have now changed my mind. Leading Democrat members of the Congress and Senate have now dove into the cesspool that was previously only occupied by the stupid and ignorant. However, if the ballot boxes are not rigged, new voting can correct the faulty elected officials. However, when 40% of the nation can not be relied upon to use their head, we, as a nation, are in trouble.......serious trouble. The latest poll indicates 40% of those polled, are convinced that Judge Kavanaugh is guilty of sexual assault, without seeing one scintilla of evidence. That is after Judge Kavanaugh testified, under oath, subject to criminal charges, that he did not commit such behavior!!
A new low has been reached in American politics. I am ashamed.
