I have never seen such unworthy people sitting in the chairs usually reserved for people with character and integrity, irregardless of party affiliation. Those chairs need to be returned to people that care about the USA instead of power. I have never seen such unabashed grandstanding in my life.
I have just seen a full day of testimony about the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the SCOTUS. It is my duty to inform you that we, in the USA, now live in a political cesspool.

Since I got into the writing mood, I have thought about a couple of other things. Neither of them have anything to do with Bayside.
One: I am absolutely furious with telemarketers. Of course, I have always been angry with them. However, since I have been near the phone more often lately, my anger has graduated to the gnarling of the teeth class. That's a dangerous level. However, when we started getting calls from people who said we called them.........and we didn't.......my brow began to sweat. Then, we received four telemarketing phone calls from ourselves. The telemarketers had selected our phone number to con other people in the area that it was a local call. That did it!!! I am writing to all our elected officials at the state and federal level and complaining.......rather graphically. These politicians only respond to votes. If there aren't voter complaints, the politicians ignore any issue.......probably even murder. The "no call list" is a political effort to shut up voters. Of course, it doesn't work. It is not enforced. Passing laws that telemarketers out of the country do no have to worry about is hardly a "fix." Laws SHOULD BE PASSED penalizing telephone companies that do not offer the technology to STOP the calls. They have the technology. They are just waiting for the demand to be so great they can charge a huge fee from customers to get relief. Can you help me? Can you start writing letters to the elected officials? Two: I try to keep politics out of this blog. The purpose of the blog is to get you to think, not me telling you what to think. I've been fairly successful at this. However, watching this unbelievable drama unfold regarding the Supreme Court nominee is just sickening. To borrow a word from Hillary Clinton, I have never witnessed such "deplorable" behavior as I have the far left wing of the Democrat Party on this nomination. The last survey I heard about said that 40% of the public feels the nominee is guilty of sexual abuse. Yet, not one fact has been presented. All my adult life, I have dealt with data, facts, and conclusive evidence. I need such evidence to be an effective real estate analyst. If I don't observe and deduct reasonably, I make mistakes. In the world of politics, apparently that doesn't make any difference. The nominee has sworn, under oath, to a Congressional committee that he is innocent of such allegations. If he is proven to be a liar, it is a criminal offense with a possible jail sentence. Folks, does that make sense? Judge Kavenaugh has led a stellar life. Does it make sense to put that reputation on the line and risk the destruction of his family and serve a jail term? Please be assured, in these times it is much easier to completely avoid the question. Sleaze is the order of the day. Even tho I'm a conservative, I always felt members of Congress and the Senate were deserving of my respect, regardless of their political party. I don't always agree with their views, but they are entitled to be heard and deserve consideration. Then, after consideration, I cast my vote. I always thought that was the American Way. In times past, it was. Even tho I may disagree, the members of Congress and the Senate had honor. I have now changed my mind. Leading Democrat members of the Congress and Senate have now dove into the cesspool that was previously only occupied by the stupid and ignorant. However, if the ballot boxes are not rigged, new voting can correct the faulty elected officials. However, when 40% of the nation can not be relied upon to use their head, we, as a nation, are in trouble.......serious trouble. The latest poll indicates 40% of those polled, are convinced that Judge Kavanaugh is guilty of sexual assault, without seeing one scintilla of evidence. That is after Judge Kavanaugh testified, under oath, subject to criminal charges, that he did not commit such behavior!! A new low has been reached in American politics. I am ashamed. Sorry for the long time between postings. I have been horribly busy. It's a long story, but suffice to say, I have lost a couple of pounds. Part of the story is that I vowed to clean out my office every 30-40 years. My goodness, one would think I hadn't cleaned out my office for 35 years.
Anyway, an important event occurred that is suitable for comment. The City Council rejected the Bayside developer's proposal to eliminate the lagoon, fountain, and trolley. That is good. I don't know what's next, but whatever it is, I'm supportive of the fight. If the developers had half a brain, and that is worthy of debate, they will sit down with Council and work out some suitable, and acceptable, solutions. It would be best for both parties. The alternative is very expensive. Normally, developers respond to expense. However, these developers seem to have a different playbook. It is not known if their playbook was edited by anyone that knows developer ethics and relationships, particularly with cities that approve their projects. Their playbook seems to have been written by someone between 8th and 9th grades. After a couple of weeks of rather heated debate about Bayside, the story seemed to slip from the front pages. Where did it go? I dunno. Did the developer take his badly stung butt home to pout? Did Rowlett "officialdom" decide the notoriety was too dangerous and buried any further "transparency" too deep for the regular old run of the mill citizens to find. After all, the proletariat just visit, talk, write, and offer up embarrassing questions. Well, they also vote, too.
Just so you still understand my position........... If I were King of Rowlett, I would be embroiled in the damnest fist fight with the developers you ever saw. I would have their lawyers, dressed in their $1000 suits, working overtime. I would make sure their cost meter was running at full out maximum. If there was a written contract favoring Rowlett, the fight would be short. If there is no written contract, first why not, then file for enforcement of the unwritten contract with ALL of Rowlett. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that a "deal" was made. If it wasn't made between the developers and Rowlett's "officialdom," it was certainly made between the developers and the Rowlett citizens. The "deal" with Rowlett citizenry was not written down, but it was certainly represented and ballyhooed all over the DFW media, understood by all the citizens, and accepted by the citizens. The citizens understood that their tax dollars were going to be spent to enhance and improve the landholdings and increase the capital of the Bayside owners. In return, the citizens expected the Bayside owners to honor their commitment to improve the property in accordance with representations they made. The citizens of Rowlett wanted what was promised because it eventually increases the tax base, and it created a positive image for Rowlett. Folks, that's the necessary consideration that all contracts need. I don't like being lied to, or taken for a fool. If you want a fight out of me, do either. A business policy of "bait and switch" is an excellent way to do it. It wouldn't take me more than a few days to engage in a legal battle that would eventually cost the developers far more than it ever would Rowlett. Rowlett's got the hammer. Use it. This thing has class action law suit written all over it........or some important information is not being shared with the citizens. If that is the case, some other remedies are in order. A lot of other remedies. I think the amount requested by the Rowlett lawsuit should be $31.5 million. After winning the suit because of a clear violation of the representations, we should accept payment to satisfy the judgement by the developers deeding over the Bayside property. Then, we will do it the way it was intended. Wanna fight? I've got one in mind. |
