However, there appeared a Facebook string that seemed to accuse Larry Beckham and myself of misrepresenting the truth, or at best, manipulating or manufacturing comments that distorted the issue at hand. I don't want to speak for Larry, but I think that Larry is one of the most honorable people I know. You can think what you want about me, but if Larry learns he was wrong on a topic, you won't have time for a shower before Larry is admitting his error and apologizing. That's my kind of people.
But, alas, we are in the re-election season. Funny things begin to happen during these times. Accusations fly fast and furious. For example, Larry is accused of publishing "inaccurate information." However, later I was accused of providing the "inaccurate information" that had formally been assigned to Larry. Of course, my sources of information was characterized as "chance encounters." What the hell does that mean?!! Does that mean we met accidentally, at night, behind some sleazy bar somewhere? Is that opposed to a meeting arranged by appointment? In fact, the author of such manipulative language did not know that the "chance encounter" was arranged by appointment and was about a topic completely unassociated with the tree issue. What do you think that author had in mind? Manipulating the truth? The Facebook string was filled with such manipulative efforts. Try to find the string if you can.
The charge that seem to be leveled at me was that I was accusing the City Staff of dereliction of duty. I DID NO SUCH THING!! However, for a politician running for office, it looked as tho that person's nobility leaped into the breach to defend our city staff. You know how that works, don't you? You put your name on somebody else's work and make it seem like yours.
Anyhow, what I wrote is in the previous blog post. Read it for yourself. I did not blame the city. I did not blame the developer. On the other hand, I may have blamed them both. In other words, there is no way to know who to blame and how much, however there is a possibility that communication problems between city and developer could have existed. It could have been caused by either, or both, of the parties. Just because a file looks complete, it doesn't mean the information got to where it was needed. Furthermore, if the appropriate developer person isn't listening, communication still won't work. THAT IS NOT THE SAME AS PICKING ON THE CITY!! Read it for yourself, below.
But.......it's the silly season. We need to pause and think thru some issues here. We have an election coming up. We need to decide who is "for" the City of Rowlett, and who is "for" their own aggrandizement. If mistakes are made, you will have to live with them. We need choices. There aren't enough.
