We have a Charter committee that is to study term limits for elected officials. At the current time, the term limit is 6 years (two 3 year terms). The discussion is to decide whether 9 years is better (three 3 year terms).
I don't think I have a problem with a nine year term limit. However, I do have a problem with a committee appointed by current elected officials to recommend a change in term limits that benefit the same elected officials that appointed them.
Folks......that ain't right. If there are any changes in term limits, it should effect future generations of elected officials, not the current sitting elected officials. You must raise your voice against this possibility. If you don't, how about the next time a committee is appointed by City Council, and they study paying each City Council member $50,000 per year? (a la California).
You're the voters. You have to vote this crap down. If you don't, you deserve it.
