People, this should not be. I hear the word "misinformation" bandied about from time to time. Most usually the word is mentioned by "officialdom" when complaining about Larry Beckham's newsletter or me when writing a blog. Let me offer some of my "learnin" while in business school or managing my own people during my career. Communication and "misinformation" starts at the upper management level. The amount of correct information that filters down to the worker bees is based on the communication skill of upper management. I do not personally know anyone that purposely distorts information to the detriment of "officialdom." The information that is digested, assimilated, and discussed, originates at the top.......not the bottom. Stop and think. It's the worker bees that are trying to figure out what the hell is going on. "Officialdom" knows.........or you would hope so. "Officialdom" starts the communication string. Of course, that could be another story.
If you send out a bunch of crap, you're going to get crap in return. I learned long ago the importance of written communication skills. I do not see an over-abundance of communication skills emanating from City Hall. A very valid question would be, "How much poor communication is by accident.......and how much by design?" The terms "shooting one's self in the foot" and "out foxing yourself" comes to mind.
If any members of "officialdom" feels I am purposely misrepresenting the truth, let them make their case. If they can't, maybe the evidence is not in plain sight. That suggests there might be more to the story. Maybe the information being sent out by "officialdom" for digestion is less than pristine.
I would guess that Larry Beckham feels much the same as I do. We haven't talked about it.......but I'm going to ask him.
