I missed the drafting of the Constitution by a couple of weeks. When I first heard about the right to free speech, and the right to assembly, I thought that was exactly what it meant. I thought anyone could drag their orange crate out into a city park, stand on it, and say anything he/she wanted. I also thought it was okay for anyone to gather around to hear what the person on the orange crate was saying. Seemed okay to me.
In recent years, completely unnoticed by me, it would appear laws have been passed or the Constitution has been amended whereby it is now a right to damage property, yell epithets at passer-bys, loot stores, beat up anyone whose vote was not liked, and generally cause the mayhem that could be taken for open revolt against our country.
Now I may be mistaken, and if I am, I most certainly apologize, however to me it would appear that most of the "protesters" are Democrats. So far, the only conservative I have seen on the news was a guy being beaten up by two thugs in Chicago. If there were any conservative friends nearby to help him, they must have been off camera.
Are we witnessing the new Democrat Party? I hope not. I know some Democrats that I like. We often differ on policy. They like big government and the controls of centralist governments. I like to keep the money as local as we can and tend to our own needs. These are fiscal policies. They have nothing to do with racism, preferential religions, woman hating, or any other bizarre charges that the special interest groups can create.
There are some things only a big federal government can do. Some examples are Interstate Highways, Treaties with foreign countries, and safeguarding our country with standing armies and equipment (the best). However, I don't think they need to be regulating our public bathrooms.
The protestors seem to be saying, "Give me the country and I will run it the way I want." I don't think so. I think we should vote on it.
I think the police should rush past peaceful protesters right to the criminal that is walking thru a hole in the window of a business carrying his/her loot; arresting them, and caring for them for the next several months while they are in jail. You know.......exactly opposite of what Baltimore did.
They are criminals, not Democrats. What is sad is that the Democrats have let them in. They are giving Democrats a bad name. However, they couldn't organize several cities and do it without financial support. They certainly didn't make that kind of money at work that day.
