ROWLETT RAMBLINGS

Kudos to the city.

There are some things I don't write enough about.  Frankly, I just don't have the time.  However, I think about them.  Those things are the small things that Rowlett "officialdom" gets right.  There are many dedicated employees in various departments that someone in "officialdom" had to have the good sense to hire.  There are good dedicated employees and department heads that I know personally and they do a great job.  There are individuals that volunteer their time to further the benefits of living in Rowlett; to help make Rowlett a good place to live.  Good examples are Mike Lancaster, of Keep Rowlett Beautiful, and Wayne Baxter and Lonnie Cornwell of the Parks Advisory Board.  There are many, many others.

This morning, I received a generic email from the Mayor.  Todd was requesting that all citizens who still had debris remaining from the windstorm a couple of weeks ago, to fill out a form  on line and the city would get to them.  That was a nice gesture, the thought of which was originally conjured up by someone in "officialdom" that cares.  Maybe it was Todd.  Maybe someone else in "officialdom."   But, whoever it was, good job.

My blog is about a single purp0se.  It is about the nurturing of the tax base.  That purpose requires good real estate development logic and good development underwriting criteria.  It also requires free flow of pertinent information from Rowlett "officialdom" to the citizens.  It is imperative that the citizens are comfortable with the knowledge that is being shared by "officialdom."  That knowledge is necessary to throw their support behind Rowlett leadership.   Remove the free flow of  knowledge, and you remove the support.  That has not always been true of Rowlett leadership.

It is easy for me to write about things I know about, but sometimes forget the other things I know to be good.  That is not my intention.  Actually, if our "officialdom" weren't such blockheads about tax base, I wouldn't have much to write about.  Our tax base would be growing like a weed.
