I have been watching news briefs about Garland's recent notoriety with ISIS. It is unbelievable how many stupid people we have in the United States. I knew we had some, but nothing to the degree I have witnessed over the past few days.
Most of the media news and some other noted personalities in the boob tube world have completely missed the point on the Garland ISIS issue. Or, if they get the point, for reasons I really don't understand, they down play the significance of the right to free speech.
I don't like Pam Geller. I would never invite her over to the house for a beer. I probably don't like any of her friends. There is no doubt in my mind that she orchestrated the "art exhibit" in Garland to poke a stick in the eye of the Muslims. That's probably not a way to start a dialog with the "good" Muslims about working together to rid the world of ISIS. I think what she did was incredibly stupid. I also think that the whacko church group up in Kansas that travels around the country demonstrating at the graves of fallen service personnel to be equally stupid. To borrow a line, "You just can't fix stupid."
Anyone that got out of the 6th grade knows that the right of assembly and free speech are a part of the American coat of arms. No other country in the world has them. The air waves are filled with the venom directed at Pam Geller, which I agree with, but totally ignores Pam Geller's right to do it. Their reaction sends an incredible message to ISIS leaders. They are saying, "We give up, and you can have the USA." Well, they forgot to check with me. I haven't given up, nor am I afraid. I am angry. I am an ex-service man. I don't give away my weapon. I only wish I had a chance to draw a bead on those two butt-wipes that tried to not only interrupt free assembly and freedom of speech, but also kill a few Americans along the way. Since I missed those two, I will keep looking for other ISIS terrorists. Oh, I'll see to it that they get turned over to the proper authorities, but I bet they won't like me.
The American mass media is falling all over themselves demonstrating their fear of ISIS. There is hardly a peep about freedom of speech. But you know what the most stupid thing they did? It is indicative of their brain dead mentality. They hardly ever mentioned the Garland traffic cop who jumped into a firefight with a revolver to combat two AK-47's held by armor jacketed assailants. Do you know what an AK-47 can do? It can chop down the trees in your yard. That cop, whoever he is, is a legitimate hero.
The issue in Garland was not about ISIS, or Pam Geller. It was about the rights to assemble and free speech. These media knuckleheads are falling all over themselves pretending to act smart, when in fact they are only furthering their own agenda. If they are successful in limiting free speech, then things will cool down for a while...........until someone knocks at your door because you have been saying something that someone in power didn't like.
You may not be able to fix stupid, but you can damned sure fight it. The first weapon you need is a brain. It will take care of itself from there.
